Regardless of the outcome against the Western Bulldogs this Sunday evening, the Brisbane Lions are certain to finish the 2012 season in 13th position.

But even though there are no real ladder consequences surrounding their Round 23 match, the Lions are still determined to secure the four points and build on the momentum gathered from consecutive wins against Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

Finishing the season off strongly has been a key driving force for the Lions, who haven’t headed into an off-season on the back of a victory for nine years.

In fact, not since the Club celebrated its third successive Premiership in 2003 have they tasted success in their final match of the year.

But a win against the Bulldogs at the Gabba this weekend would no doubt give the Lions players - and their fans - some real optimism heading into 2013.

It would also mark the first time the Club has won three matches in-a-row since the opening month of the 2010 season.

Senior Coach Michael Voss believes the final few weeks of this season could end up playing a critical role in helping develop a winning culture among his young side.

"I've said a number of times we have made progress as a footy team, but unless there are results that can consolidate that view, it can sometimes be a bit of a waste,” Voss said.

"I know there's progress in this group. There's some genuine light for these guys and I think they can see it and feel it, I can see it and feel it. I just hope from a Brisbane public's point of view, they can see it too."

“As a footy team, we’ve got to make sure that we follow through on what we said we’d do at the start of the season.”

"We've got unfinished business as a footy team."
