The Hyundai Brisbane Lions Academy, the club’s talent identification and pathway program, will this weekend field 17 and 18-year old Academy players in the Brisbane Lions reserves side for the first time.

The Academy, designed to identify local talent in the Club’s Queensland zone areas, will regularly contribute top-up players to the reserves team in 2012 to contribute to their development.

With the Club recently launching its strategic vision towards 2016, the identification and development of our Academy players will be a key focus over the next five years.

The Brisbane Lions has committed to having 20% of the Lions playing list made up of Lions Academy graduates by 2016, which equates to roughly ten players.

The Brisbane Lions first reserves practice game for the year will be held at Yeronga this Saturday 3 March - so come along to support the reserves and see some of your future Brisbane Lions in action!
