He’s the shortest player on the Lion’s list, but Dayne Zorko’s AFL Dream Team standing has grown astronomically over the past month.

The 175cm forward’s price has skyrocketed almost 200% already in 2012.

He was worth a modest $104,200 before his round 7 debut against Collingwood, but is now valued at an impressive $308,700.

Zorko was among the Lion’s best against Hawthorn on Sunday, but in the eyes of AFL Dream Team punters he was especially valuable.

The Gold Coast junior tallied a whopping 140 points courtesy of 24 possessions, nine marks, seven tackles, and three goals.

The effort saw him trump superstar Lance Franklin as Dream Team best afield, and ranked him third overall amongst the entire AFL for round 12.

The 23-year-old concedes he’s happy with the way he’s playing, but stresses the team result matters most.

“It was probably my best game [against Hawthorn],” Zorko says.

“It’s good to get a few goals here and there, to kick the first to get the team up and going was great.

“But when you get down by sixty-odd points it’s not a great feeling that’s for sure.”

Overlooked in the National Draft until the Lions snapped him up at the end of last year, Zorko’s surprised how smoothly he’s transitioned to the AFL in 2012.

“[I didn’t expect] to play this well so quickly,” he says.

“It always takes a while to get going, it was my fifth game on the weekend, so hopefully I can keep the momentum going and keep playing well for the side.”

After a 32 disposal Reserves debut in atrocious conditions against Morningside earlier in the year, it’s no surprise Zorko relished the wet weather against the Hawks.

“I love playing in the rain!” he enthuses. “I love the wet; when it’s sloppy like that I love getting in and around it; the more rain the better for me!”
