When news first broke that Brisbane Lions Captain Jonathan Brown had been hit by a car while riding his bike on Tuesday morning, fans had every reason to instinctively expect the worst.

After all, Brown has been on the wrong end of some rather unfortunate incidents over the past couple of years.

But thankfully he escaped with only relatively minor injuries - none of which will impact his pre-season preparations.

Speaking exclusively with LIONS TV, the three-time Club Champion said that he had pulled up well from the accident.

“I’m fine, I’ve done pretty well out of it I reckon,” Brown told LIONS TV.

“I was just out on a training ride with a few blokes, and just entered a roundabout, and unfortunately a car didn’t quite see me and collected me on the way through.”

“I got hit in the side and my elbow smashed the windscreen. I got 10 stiches in my elbow, and fortunately enough I landed on all fours so got up straight away.”

“I went and got treated in hospital, and got a clean bill of health. There were a couple of little dings here and there, but I’ll be right for training.”

“It was (a bit of a scare). I didn’t see it coming, but the body’s good. I count myself lucky that I could get away with only minor injuries.”

Brown was probably due for a bit of luck, after recently suffering three separate facial fractures in the space of 12 months.

“I had scans on my head and neck and around my hips, which were a little bit sore, but they were all clear,” he said.

The incident isn’t expected to be affect Brown’s pre-season training, with the centre half-forward saying he’ll be back on deck as previously scheduled.

“I’ll rest up, enjoy the last fortnight of holidays, and then get back into it with the boys of the 5 November,” he said.

“I’ll be back on day one of pre-season.”

Walking away relatively unscathed from the car accident has only helped to further enhance Brown's reputation as the competition's more fearsome and courageous player.

It has even sparked comparisons between he and both Wolverine and Chuck Norris among some of the social media community.
