The Brisbane Lions AFC and Vodafone Australia today confirmed that Vodafone’s major naming rights sponsorship agreement with the Club will conclude at the end of the 2009 AFL Season.

“The Lions sincerely thank Vodafone for its support over the years and we look forward to an exciting 2009 season,” said Lions Chief Executive Michael Bowers.

“We go into this year’s competition with a new Senior Coach in Michael Voss, a new Club Captain in Jonathan Brown and a re-energised playing list.”

“Throughout the season, fans will continue to enjoy Vodafone’s match-day initiatives including the Vodafone Entertainment Quarter – on-ground after each Gabba game – as well as corporate facilities, business networking breakfasts and interactive pre-game activities.”

Pat Cunningham, Head of Sponsorship at Vodafone Australia, said: “Vodafone has enjoyed a high-profile association with the Brisbane Lions and we wish the Club continued success.”

“Vodafone’s partnership with the Lions has delivered strong results in Queensland. However, we’re now looking to diversify our sponsorship portfolio into new areas, with a stronger interest in music.”

The Brisbane Lions have begun their search for a new major sponsor for 2010 and beyond and is calling for expressions of interest from both Australian and international companies.

The opportunity to sign as the Brisbane Lions’ major sponsor includes (but is not limited to) prominent branding on the Lions' match and training guernseys, team apparel, media backdrops, event signage, plus all print and electronic marketing and communications materials.

It is only the second time in the merged Club’s history of more than 10 years that this major partnership has become available in Australia’s marquee sporting marketplace.
