The game plan is good. The Senior Coach has been “outstanding”. Now it’s up to the players to turn things around for the Brisbane Lions – that’s the opinion Captain Tom Rockliff.
Rockliff, who is recovering after being knocked out in the early stages of Saturday night’s QClash loss to the Gold Coast Suns, said he and the playing group needed to stand up.
“We just lack in that effort and care for the Footy Club which is really disappointing and frustrating,’’ Rockliff told The Courier-Mail.
“We were 0-5 last year but it’s different this time around. The effort was there last year so we’ve got to have a real good look at ourselves.
“The game plan is good, Leppa has been outstanding throughout and it is about time the players and leaders stood up."
Rockliff will undergo a series of concussion tests this week before a decision is made on whether he will play against Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Rockliff said he did not see Suns defender Steven May coming before the contact that sent the Lions Captain to the ground.
“I remember running back for the ball, thinking I had the 50 to myself,’’ he said.
“I didn’t see him at all until about the last two steps and then I was out before I hit the ground.’’
