It's the question on every Lions fans mind at the moment.

But while Sunday's loss to Hawthorn has raised concerns over the Lions form heading into September, Strategy Coach, Mark Stone says the club is united in finding the form that soundly defeated Geelong in Round 15.

“It is difficult to put our finger on what the issue has been precisely, because there’s moments in games where we’re really good," Stone said.

“But the consistency is eluding us at the moment and there are times where we’re really flat and lacking energy so for us it’s a task to spark that energy and intensity that can win big games that we know we can do.”

When asked what the coaching staff discussed with the players following their shock 12-point defeat in Launceston, Stone was optimistic that there are still plenty of opportunities to bounce back.

“Fages was quite calm as usual, the group and the coaches were obviously disappointed and we spoke as a team about the fact that we missed a great opportunity in Tasmania. But we're realistic and know there’s still plenty of opportunities to come.

“We’re all united in feeling that we’ll be able to find that enthusiasm and intensity and our game is so strong when we pressure well and we’re confident we can find that.”

Our Strategy Coach also shed light on the 'marathon' of a competition and that with changing travel plans, hubs and constant adjustments to schedules, that a lot of teams are hitting flat patches from time to time.

“There’s been some disruption to the program but that’s happening with everyone, not just us. It presents its challenges and they’re not excuses, they are challenges," Stone said.

“Melbourne’s had flat spots, so have the Dogs and Richmond, and these flat patches hit teams at different times. The footy season is a long one and while we don’t accept that it’s part and parcel, we’re staying positive and confident we can work our way through it.

“Being here in Perth, it’s a real opportunity to be together and have some fun and bond together. We’re still training hard and analysing the opposition strongly.

"But we’re stuck in a hub together so it’s a really great chance to become stronger as a club.”
