They say food is the way to a man’s heart, and the Brisbane Lions are sticking to that adage when it comes to making their young players feel right at home.
Every Thursday night, the Club’s youngest cubs have an open invitation to “Dinner at the Lambert’s’” in what has quickly become a great tradition.
The Lambert’s returned to Brisbane in September to oversee player welfare. Craig is the Club’s Strategy and Retention Manager, alongside wife Melissa who works as Player Welfare Manager.
“The more that you show that you care and you go out of your way to support them, the more you get them on board,” Craig told Channel 10.
Thursday night dinner is one of a number of initiatives designed by the Lamberts since returning to Queensland. In December, the Lambert’s held a Lethal Lions Family Induction – a weekend designed by the Lambert’s to bring the families together, and connect those who are new to the Club.

And every Thursday during the players’ day off, Melissa conducts cooking classes for the younger members of the playing group.
Starting last Thursday, first year players experienced their first taste of the culinary field. As part of their educational journey with the Club, first year players will soon know how to prepare healthy versions of dishes including spaghetti bolognaise and Caesar Salad.
