There will be more than just football heroes on show at this Sunday’s showdown against the Bulldogs, with Olympic medallists Melanie Schlanger and Emily Seebohm set to appear at the Gabba.

The Queensland swimmers won Australian hearts with their performances at the 2012 London Olympics and Lions fans will have the opportunity to hear from these local heroes when the are interviewed before the bounce on Sunday.

Schlanger, an official Brisbane Lions ambassador and long-time fanatical supporter, was part of the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team which overcame a late surge from the Netherlands to take home Australia’s first gold medal in London.

She went on to win silver in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, silver in the women’s 4x100m medley relay, as well as finishing fourth in the individual 100m freestyle.

"I can't wait (for Sunday)," Schlanger told 4BC's breakfast show on Monday.

"I absolutely love the Lions - I have ever since I was born. Hopefully they can get a win this weekend to finish off the season."

20 year-old Seebohm swam with Schlanger in the 4x100m medley relay, set an Olympic record for backstroke in the heats, and eventually went on to take home silver in the 100m backstroke final.

Lions fans are encouraged to arrive early at the stadium (gates open from 3.00pm) to get involved in the pre-game activities and help congratulate these Olympians on their remarkable achievements!
