Brisbane Lions fans have every reason to get excited about Dayne Zorko, given the outstanding start to the former Broadbeach Captain’s AFL career.

In just five senior matches, Zorko has averaged 16.4 disposals, 5.2 marks, 6.6 tackles and more than a goal per game, to quickly become one of the team’s most important players.

His stats are even more remarkable considering he spent his debut match against Collingwood back in Round 7 as the substitute, and had only limited game time.

But despite of the external hype, Zorko has remained level-headed and understands that five matches don’t make a career.

During an online chat with Lions fans on Thursday, the 23 year-old was asked how he manages the increased expectations.

“It’s not really hard,” Zorko said.

“I’ve played a few good games, but that’s about it really. I’ve still got a lot of improvement to go.”

“A key area for me is to continue working on my pressure inside 50.”

The relatively mature-age recruit also revealed his reasoning behind staying in Queensland as a junior, rather moving to another State League in a bid to attract more AFL clubs.

“I thought about (a move to the SANFL or WAFL), but decided not to go because Gold Coast had just started their team and I thought I might have had a better chance there.”

Zorko and his Lions team-mates will be in attendance at this Saturday night’s inaugural Hall of Fame event at Crown Palladium.

The induction will celebrate the ‘best of the best’ players from Fitzroy, the Bears, and the Brisbane Lions - an achievement Zorko hopes to strive towards throughout the remainder of his playing days.

“I would love to be in it (one day),” Zorko said.
