The Brisbane Lions head into their Bye with a clean bill of health after coming through last Sunday’s match against West Coast relatively unscathed.

The only minor concern surrounds lively defender/forward Ash McGrath who got through the game despite being hampered with a sore knee.

For good measure, McGrath also copped a whack to his head after taking a courageous mark deep in that tense final quarter.

But Physical Performance Manager Brett Burton believes the extended break will almost certainly ensure the 29 year-old is fit to play Hawthorn after the Bye.

“Ash just copped a knock on his knee,” Burton told LIONS TV as part of his weekly Bupa Recovery Report.

“It’s already starting to settle, and given we’ve got the Bye this weekend, we shouldn’t have any dramas with it. He should be ready for our Round 12 game.”

“He was a little bit sore, but was still able to play with it for the rest of the game. So we don’t envision it being too much of an issue.”

The entire team are currently enjoying a four-day break away from the Club to ‘freshen up’ for the second half of the season.

“We give them a program over those four days, so they can mentally relax as well as physically relax,” Burton said.

“We’ll bring them back in on Saturday and then have a solid hitout on Sunday in preparation for our game against Hawthorn.”

Superstar midfielder Simon Black will also be a chance to return against the Hawks.
